Construction has begun on a state-of-the-art veterinary center in Bend, Oregon, which will be the region's first full veterinary hospital. The Veterinary Referral Center of Central Oregon (VRCCO) aims to meet the growing demand for advanced medical care for pets in the Pacific Northwest. The 26,000-square-foot facility, designed by STEELE Associates Architects and built by Empire Construction & Development, will feature a bone and joint center, physical therapy with an aquatic underwater treadmill, MRI, fluoroscopic capabilities, and CT scans. The center also plans to provide unique amenities such as subsidized childcare for employees, a food truck court, a beer garden, and a tranquility garden.
Dr. Mauricio Dujowich, co-founder and CEO of VRCCO, aims to provide a positive experience for pets, pet parents, and staff. The center's guiding core values include going beyond expectations and offering a personalized experience. VRCCO currently offers services such as surgery, internal medicine, dermatology, and emergency care, and the new facility will expand its capabilities with additional services, better diagnostic tools, and more space.
Construction of the new building is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2023. It will feature advanced medical equipment, including the first MRI dedicated to pets in Central Oregon, a 64-slice CT scanner, and interventional radiology capabilities. The center aims to become a hub for veterinary care in the region, offering emergency services, general practice, surgery, physical therapy, dermatology, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, and more. The facility will also include a large convention/meeting room and administration offices. VRCCO anticipates significant growth, with the staff expected to expand from 85 to around 140 employees.
